I have my first tutorial up on the site which is amazing because I wasn’t planning on writing tutorials, but since this one was so neat I decided to write it up. This tutorial covers creating cool snow on text for the holidays. And without further ado
Create a new image of any size you want, I made mine 400 x 250.
Grab your Type tool
and pick any font you want. I used Bernhard Modern at 150pt bold and green #339900 for the font color.
Type anything you want and once your done create a new layer. ![]()

In the new layer go to the “Add new layer style
” icon at the bottom of the layers window and select Inner Glow.
Change the Blend Mode to Normal, the Opacity to 50%, the color to black and the Size to 2px.

Now if your handy with a pen tool like one from Wacom, you can get better results, but if not that’s ok too.
Hit D to set your colors to black and white and hit x to make white your foreground color.
Using the Brush Tool
with a size of about 9 and 100% hardness start stroking the top of the text like so.

Like I said if you have a pen tool you can get some amazing results but they are tricky to use at first. It takes some getting used to.

Well there you have it, some natural looking snow for the holidays. Of couse this can be used on logos and other elements also, use your imagination and try different ideas.
